Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver Duck in a Boat Walking Stick.
A charming and rather unusual Edwardian gentleman's walking cane, dating to 1910, featuring a beautifully detailed sterling silver pommel modelled as a duck sitting in a boat. The delightful novelty handle is finely worked, with the duck's head raised above the boat and its carefully engraved feathers bringing the bird to life. The boat itself features a gently curved, ribbed hull, while the decorative silver mount below is embellished with intricate foliate detailing, adding further character and craftsmanship to this appealing piece.
The silver handle is fitted to a long, elegant ebonised wooden shaft, its dark polished finish providing a striking contrast to the bright silverwork. The cane retains its brass ferrule, completing the traditional appearance.

The silver mount bears a full set of English hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, and the date letter 'P' for 1910, firmly placing this delightful walking stick in the Edwardian period.

A wonderfully characterful and decorative antique walking cane, combining fine silversmithing with a playful sporting and country-life theme. An especially appealing example for collectors of novelty walking sticks, antique silver and unusual gentleman's accessories.
