Antique Walking Stick London 1907

Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver and Horn Pommel Walking Stick.
A handsome Edwardian gentleman's walking cane, dating to 1907, featuring a beautifully polished spherical horn pommel, mounted on a sterling silver collar and an attractive malacca cane shaft. The striking globular handle is particularly appealing, displaying the natural beauty and character of the horn. Its rich, dark tones are enhanced by tightly packed fibres and subtle variations in colour, with areas of gentle translucency that become apparent as the light catches the polished surface. The result is a wonderfully tactile and distinctive handle, each natural marking adding to its individual character. The horn pommel is secured by a plain, polished sterling silver collar, providing an elegant contrast to the warm honey-brown tones of the malacca shaft. The cane retains the natural grain and subtle figuring associated with malacca, a material particularly favoured for quality gentleman's walking sticks during the Victorian and Edwardian periods and is fitted with a horn ferrule.
The silver collar bears the makers mark 'J,H' with full English hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, and the date letter 'm' for 1907, placing this attractive walking stick firmly within the Edwardian period.
A fine example of an early 20th-century gentleman's walking cane, combining the understated elegance of a natural horn handle with the quality and craftsmanship of English silverwork. An appealing addition to any collection of antique walking sticks, period gentleman's accessories.
