Antique Silver-Plated Novelty Golf Cruet Set with Gutty Golf Ball Handle.
A scarce and wonderfully unusual antique silver-plated golf cruet set, cleverly designed around the game of golf. A charming piece of novelty sporting tableware, combining decorative appeal with a practical purpose.
The set comprises three attractive cut-glass condiment containers: a pepper shaker, a mustard pot complete with spoon, and an open salt dish. Each sits within its own circular silver-plated holder, supported by an ingenious framework of three crossed golf clubs.
The golf clubs form the central stand, with their shafts rising to meet beneath a beautifully detailed gutty-pattern golf ball, which serves as the carrying handle. The club heads extend outwards at the base, providing three decorative feet and completing the delightful golfing design.
The cut-glass containers have an attractive diamond-pattern decoration, with silver-plated fittings to the pepper shaker and mustard pot. The mustard pot retains its hinged lid and accompanying spoon, while the open salt dish completes the set.
A particularly appealing example of antique novelty golf silver plate, full of character and imaginative detail. These unusual golfing cruet sets make wonderful additions to a collection of early golfing memorabilia and are equally at home displayed on a dining table of a keen golfer.
An excellent gift for a golfing enthusiast or collector of antique sporting silverware, and a delightful reminder of the days when even the most everyday table accessories could celebrate the great game of golf.
