Hardy's say about the rod:
The "Tourney" Rod.
During 1935 we made a great discovery in the building of split bamboo rods especially for Tournament work and where a very light, yet quick and strong rod is required. This method of building and strengthening our rods without adding to their weight - helped very considerably in bringing the large number of prizes and creating world records in 1935 and 1936. The "Tourney" described above is built by the same method as these Tournament rods. A rod of marvellous power for its weight. It will lift a long line and drive it forward cleanly.
