George Armfield Oil on Canvas - Flushing Spaniels.
A charming 19th century oil on canvas by the London sporting artist George Armfield (1808-1893), depicting three lively Spaniels duck hunting. The three dogs are captured in an animated hunting scene, working amongst the undergrowth beside a woodland stream, with a duck taking flight above. A wonderfully detailed and characteristic example of Armfield's work, full of movement and sporting interest.
The painting is signed 'G. Armfield' to the lower right-hand corner and is presented in its original period gilt frame.
A very decorative Victorian sporting painting, particularly appealing to collectors of canine and hunting art.
