Mid-Century Jaeger-LeCoultre 18k White Gold.
Crosshair Dial - Original Gold Buckle & Period Leather Pouch
A beautifully restrained example of mid-century Swiss watchmaking, this Jaeger-LeCoultre dress watch combines a rare solid 18k white gold case with an exceptionally clean silvered crosshair dial.
Dating from approximately the 1950s-1960s, the watch embodies the understated elegance associated with Jaeger-LeCoultre during the period. Its appeal lies in its purity of design: a crisp, ultra-thin precious-metal case, finely detailed dial and slender sword hands create a quietly sophisticated aesthetic.
The silvered dial is particularly distinctive, featuring a delicate crosshair design that divides the dial into four quarters and draws attention toward its centre. Applied faceted baton markers and an applied 'JL' logo at 12 o'clock provide subtle dimensional detail, while the classic sword hands maintain the watch's clean, highly legible appearance. The dial is completed by clear "SWISS MADE" text at 6 o'clock.
The watch is housed in a solid 18k white gold case, retaining strong original proportions and a notably thin profile. The monochromatic combination of white gold and silvered dial gives the piece an understated character, while the precious-metal construction adds a sense of weight and refinement.
Inside is a Jaeger-LeCoultre manual-winding movement, which is described as highly original and unrestored. It is currently running consistently on a timegrapher. As an unserviced vintage movement, however, a routine service and regulation is recommended before relying on the watch for modern daily accuracy.
Adding considerably to its period character is the original signed 'JL' tang buckle, stamped "18K SOLID GOLD" on the reverse. The watch is fitted to a rich brown ostrich-grain leather strap and is accompanied by an elegant period-correct tan leather travel pouch, complete with a blind-stamped 'JL' logo on the flap.
The watch remains in outstanding, untouched aesthetic condition, preserving the honest character and original details that make well-preserved mid-century Jaeger-LeCoultre watches particularly compelling.
