Antique Golf Club, Hickory Mashie
Antique Golf Club, Hickory Mashie
Diamond Back Hickory Shafted Mashie Golf Club.
A classic early 20th-century mashie featuring a hickory shaft and original leather grip. The club head is a diamond-back mashie, a design popular with professional and amateur golfers in the early 1900's. The maker's stamp on the back of the head has worn with time and is now unreadable (DREMS can just be made out). The face features hand-punched dot markings arranged in a circular pattern; a distinctive early style used before modern machine-milled scoring lines became standard.
Dating to circa 1915, the club shows honest age and patina but remains solid and in good playable condition, making it suitable both for collectors and for enthusiasts of hickory golf who enjoy playing with period equipment. The well-balanced mashie is fully playable, while retaining strong period integrity. Approximate 37° loft & light swing weight just below A.
A wonderful example of pre-1920 craftsmanship that reflects the transitional era of golf club design.
The measurements shown are the length of the shaft with hosel and the width and depth of the face.
