Unusual Antler Table
Unusual Antler Table
Antique Black Forest Antler Table Attributed to Carl Peters.
A beautifully sculptural example of a late 19th to early 20th century Black Forest hall table, crafted from stag and roe deer antlers. The naturally shed antlers have been artfully interwoven to form an intricate base of remarkable complexity.
The rectangular oak top displays a deep, rich patina, while the frieze is adorned with carefully mounted antler rosettes and roe deer elements that echo and complement the base. Decorated on all sides, the table demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship and thoughtful design, making it an ideal free-standing display piece.
This table is attributed to Carl Peters of Neustadt in Mecklenburg, Germany, with his original paper trade label affixed to the underside of the top. Peters specialised in the production of luxury furnishings made from antlers, including hanging lamps, table lamps, chandeliers, chairs, tables, coat racks, and umbrella stands. His bespoke work, often created from clients' supplied antlers, is both visually striking and highly distinctive.
A superb statement piece, perfectly suited to a country house, hunting lodge, or eclectic interior.
Two accompanying images show AI-assisted reconstruction of the original trade label: one digitally restored to illustrate the complete design, and a second providing an English translation.
