Army & Navy Croquet Set on Stand.
A fabulous four-player garden croquet set by Army & Navy Stores Ltd., London, complete with four boxwood mallets and presented on a handsome vintage mahogany stand. The mallets are stamped 'Army & Navy Stores Ltd. London' and have octagonal ash handles, designed to help players feel the alignment of the mallet head during play. The mallet faces are scored with concentric rings to assist with stop shots and follow-through roll shots.
The set includes four balls in the traditional croquet colours, six bent metal hoops and a winning post. The mahogany stand is fitted with a brass carrying handle and brass supports, with brackets on either side to accommodate the hoops. The stand is secured with nuts, allowing it to be dismantled for storage or transportation.
A wonderful traditional garden croquet set, full of period charm, that would grace any lawn.
The dimensions given are for the stand. The mallets measure approximately 98 cm in length.

The mallets have been professionally restored and are free from chips. Old screws previously used to secure two of the mallet heads have been removed, and the holes neatly plugged with boxwood. A wonderful, fully usable croquet set in very good condition.
