Vintage Stubai Mountaineering Ice Axe, Albert Lutz.
A good Austrian 'Stubai' ice axe, the handle is made from ash with a good steel pick (smooth, no serrated edge) and with a good adze. This is a fine quality ice pick with the head stamped with the diamond 'STUBAI' logo, on the other side stamped ALBERT LUTZ AG TEUFEN. This is a fine quality ice pick with leather end protectors, a canvas securing leash and a pointed square spike and a metal ferrule.
Ice axes are multipurpose tools used by mountaineers in both the ascent and descent.
